Hox Vox is a solo project by me, Gianluca Missero (Hox), born in Venezia (Italy).
During first half of 80s I played also in other two bands: bass and keyboards with Marco Bianchi (drummer of Death in Venice) in the avant- wave duo SlideStraviati, and keyboards in new wave Gunshot Nucleus again with Bianchi, Sebastian Russo (singer of Death in Venice) and Alberta Marchiori. From about 1985 I ceased to play - except for a short comin' back in '89 with an 8-bit music experiment - 'til october 2008 when a friends of mine pushed me back to music making.
The body of my work is RIO/progressive, with an obsession for not-proper use of instruments, song structures and bizarre twists on caribbean, post-rock or gamelan themes.
Eight-Bit Deboned was composed and played in 1989 using a simple tracker, (Oktalizer 1.0 on an Amiga 500) and a few samples token from Amiga magazines’ bonus disks and an Akai sampler. The resulting sound reminds of Residents or Fred Frith. It was spreaded on floppy disk in Octamed MOD format.
Outskirt (december 2008) is a 16 tracks concept album about low inhabitated, or at least far-from-centre areas. Genres varies according to the ambient, from progressive to kraut rock electronics, indie, jazz, death metal, avantgarde, funky and more.
Das Chamäleon (March 2009) is a 5 track EP about mutant music, obtained through bizarre pairings or juxtaposing uneven genres.
Étoile (July 2009) is a concept album about stars - both intended as prima ballerinas and celestial bodies - and their issues.
Genre is a series of mixes with world music, symphonic progressive, a bit of contemporary and kraut electronics, always with the free approach of Rock in Opposition tradition (from Zappa to Henry Cow): sometime resulting in complex structures with mindbending pairings of melodies and subtle detuned arrangments.
Étoile start with a Residents-like intro sung by a couple of real pigs, then a piece of math/art rock, sounding like a too dry death metal. Then from Rhythmbox the record begins wedging prog, contemporary, world and electronics.

I got also a Youtube Channel where I put my videos, called Hox Vox Box.
that album "In Extremis" is AWESOME .. thanks for turning me on to Thinking Plague!!
I´d probably never find the band.. for some reason I had the impression that it was just one of the many Post-Punk bands of middle 80s. I´d never expected to find such fine rich music from this band..
definitelly I see how difficult is to put their music down in words.. nice try!!
.. what about "the meeting of of Alice and Frank in the afterlife" ? :-D
I found them on Nearfest 2000 too .. (?) .. I completely overlooked the band .. :-p
thanks again. I´ll look for every release from this band !
Hey, sorry taking so long to write back to you.. I´ve heard about Thinking Plague, don´t know nothing about them.. do you recommend any album in particular to start with??
Well, on graphic arts and video, I guess we probably use or have used much the same apps, which Music app are you using now?
hey, I´ve read on your page that you stopped playing and re-started later. I stopped playing after I bought a Comodore Amiga 500 computer in 1987 (I think), I bought it to use as a midi sequencer, I recorded some stuff but after I discover the world of 3D animation I simply dive in.. Occasionally I returned to play but not until early "this century" I decided to setup a home studio and record again.
I really enjoyed your material - listened to most of it, but still have a bit to check out from Outskirt. Favs were Giant Star Antares, Entr'Acte, Springbound, Ionosphere, and my #1 pic Behind the Curtain. Behind... simply blows me away - great work!
Thanks also for joining Musician's Corner. Hope you enjoy what the group has to offer.
Hey Gianluca !
thanks for the comment, Henry Cow is the best in the RIO genre, i haven't really heard anything from Thinking Plague but now i do, Sébastien is the best, I'm surprise that some who listen to progressive music never heard of him, i listen to you music on here right now, very good my freind
Just wonder.. you have a song called Møre and Romsdal.. is it recorded in Norway? I don't live there, but I know where it is.. its beautiful up there :)
