I listened to Divided shortly after I asked the question.. I liked but the problem with these bands seems to be the vocals, the "voice lines" to be more specific; for my taste, at first listening, the instrumentals sounds great, the tracks are goo...
Hey, Mick.
Cool to hear Opeth mentioned. Last offering I have from them is Damnation. Curious to know what other releases you've heard - at this point this one is pretty dated :-) .
Regards, Epic Songs
How about Opeth? On recent albums they have moved ever nearer to prog. Also, I think Porcupine tree and Steven Wilson can be considered alongside the others mentioned.
Hey Peco,
Sorry for the delayed response, my friend.
Insights is a gread disc from Lemur Voice. Divided is also good (if you manage to find a copy), but is not nearly as good as its predecessor. They only released two albums.
Wrathchild America...
+ 1 to what both you and Peco submitted. DT are one of my favs and I can always return to 'Adam & Eve' by the FKs when everything else sounds stale.
Another band that deserve a nod in this category would be Fates Warning, who never got the recogn...
Also the interview on the 25th Anniversary Special Edition CD has some interesting points on how they´ve recorded, composed and joined parts in one piece music. In this respect, as one of the first "one piece music concept album" it´s the mother o...
Thick as a Brick is a great concept album. but i have heard Ian himself say that Thick as a Brick is actually a joke album. making fun of concept albums that were coming out at that time. still a great album regardless, but i have to agree with pe...

For sure Transatlantic must be on top of any list of "Today´s Prog-Rock Classics" (+ pre and post projects of its members and their original bands too) - Neal Morse (Spock´s Beard), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Roine Stolt (Flower Kings) and Pete...
Hey Jules, very well said, I also loved Prog Rock Brittania. btw, BBC always produced the finest documentaries. Hopefully they're now producing these excellent rock series for fans like us and the new generations to come.

I consider myself a progressive rock drummer whose influence are Bill Bruford, Alan White, Barriemore Barlow, Phil Collins, Nick Mason and Carl Palmer. My main musical influences are Yes, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant, Marillion, IQ, Genesis (Gabriel era), ELP, Porcupine Tree, Skeem, Ice, Focus, Flower Kings, Spock's Beard etc......If I could form an ultimate prog band I would have Bill Bruford, Chris Squire, Steve Hackett, Rick Wakeman and Fish...What a dream team!!!!!
I love ancient history predominantly Roman and Greek and I love to read a variety of books on history, rock music and musicians in general.
